Motorola is getting a jump on Mobile World Congress by shaking up its midrange G-series lineup for 2020 with the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power.

The $299 Moto G Stylus replaces last year's G7 and looks pretty similar with the exception of a stylus that retracts into the lower right side of the phone. It has a 6.4-inch HD+ LCD with a 16MP front-facing camera in the top left corner. On the back of the phone you'll find a new triple camera stack. The primary lens comes in at 48MP with an f/1.7 aperture. There's also a 2MP Macro Vision camera with an f/2.2 aperture, as well as a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera with a 117-degree field of view.

Inside is a Snapdragon 665 processor along with 4GB of RAM. There's also 128GB of storage and the phone can support an additional 512GB via microSD card. A 4,000mAh battery reportedly provides up to two days of battery life.

The $249 Moto G Power (pictured at the top of the page) shares many of the same specs as its slightly pricier sibling. The main differences between the two include the cameras, storage, and of course, battery capacity.

The G Power has a 16MP primary lens with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide lens with an 118-degree FOV, and the same 2MP macro lens as the G Stylus. At 64GB, the G Power has half the internal storage. What it lacks in storage, however, it makes up in battery life, as a massive 5,000mAh cell promises up to three days between charges.

Both phones will ship with Android 10 and, as usual, Motorola is using a light hand when it comes to additional software. Yes, Moto Actions are still available, as are all the company's camera features like Cinemagraph. There's also a new Moto Gametime mode that blocks notifications while gaming, Moto Note for the G Stylus, and Action Cam, a feature that allows you to shoot video in landscape while holding the Moto G Power vertically.

While Motorola announced the G8 Play for emerging markets last year, a Play edition handset was noticeably missing from this year's lineup. As the G series has slowly slid into the midrange space over the past couple of years, Motorola's less-expensive E series have picked up the budget-model slack, and it looks like the Play edition may be a victim of that transition.

Since it released the first Moto G in 2013, Motorola's G series has been among our go-to recommendations for budget-conscious smartphone shoppers. Earlier this month, the company announced more than 100 million G-series phones have been sold.

The Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power will be available this spring. We look forward to testing the phones as soon as we can get our hands on them, so check back for full reviews.
